Cortney Busch, Board Treasurer, Director
Cortney serves as Treasurer of the GIE Foundation, providing strategic oversight on financial management, compliance, governance, and operations. She is also the Founder and CEO of Mission Possible Nonprofits, where she works with organizations around the world to strengthen their systems, structure, and impact.
A lawyer by training, Cortney began her career in international human rights, working on legal representation for Guantánamo detainees and drone strike victims. She later led operational and development efforts at nonprofits across the U.S. and UK, including an anti–death penalty organization in Texas and a global nonprofit focused on sustainable materials. She has since advised over 100 nonprofits on setup, governance, financial reporting, and organizational development.
Cortney also brings significant experience in political campaigns and equity-centered leadership. She holds certifications in inclusive nonprofit practice and HR management, and regularly volunteers with community-based organizations in New Orleans, where she resides. She holds a BA from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and earned her Graduate Diploma in Law, LPC, and LL.M. in London at City University Law School.
