Florian Ulrich Jehn, Research Advisor & Program Lead
Florian Ulrich Jehn is a senior researcher in environmental science specializing in food security, climate impacts, and civilizational resilience. Florian is the head of research for GIE Foundation’s Food Security is National Security program.
Florian was previously a Senior Researcher at ALLFED (Alliance to Feed the Earth in Disasters), with a PhD in Environmental Science and Hydrology from Justus-Liebig-University Giessen.
Following doctoral studies analyzing hydrological systems, Florian’s research expanded to extreme climate change scenarios and innovative approaches to prevent global famine after catastrophic events, as well as being published in peer-reviewed journals, contributing to the UN's Independent Scientific Panel on nuclear war effects, and writing for the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists.
Beyond academic research, Florian writes the research newsletter Existential Crunch and delivers public lectures on food security and global risks.
